| Merengue is a type of lively, joyful music and dance that comes from the Dominican Republic.Origins are still disputed and traced to the second half of 18th century. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Legend has it that the King?s son was lame.From fear of being laughed at the young boy stayed inside.The King felt the boy should have the freedom to walk around his Kingdom and so proclaimed that everyone in the Kingdom would walk as the boy did, dragging one leg so that the boy would not feel embarrassed.Thus the Merengue was born. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
